Sewing Your Seeds

I've just bought Jamie Cloud Eakins book 'Designing with Cabochons' after seeing it praised by various different people. I just wondered what people prefer to use as backing and also what sort of cement/glue people use?

I have a week off soon and I am planning on having 'a go' at this style of beading around a cab! I usually just bead around them.

Oh you are gonna love this book!!! I use ultrasuede and iron on fusible interfacing for all my backs, cabs and embroideries. Some use Lacy's Stiff Stuff, but I don't want to special order over the internet for a small piece when I can go buy my other stuff by the yard and have plenty for a long time. Also in the event any color ever shows through I have something that isn't white white. I use the same thing for the other side and in some cases, leather is the official 'seen' back. I use E6000 for glue or just some stuff from the hardware store called 'Locktite' It's just to hold in place anyway until you have it beaded sufficiently. Have a blast!! It's a gorgeous technique!
